Chive Charities
See how Chive Charities revolutionized charity discovery in New Zealand with No Code technology, making it easier for locals to support causes they care about.
Chive is a directory that makes it easy for Kiwis to find and support local charities. The goal is simple: help people connect with causes they care about while giving smaller charities the visibility they deserve.
The Problem
New Zealand has thousands of charities, but most people only know a handful. When Alice and Stephen, the founders of Chive, approached me, they explained that smaller charities often struggle to get noticed, even though many Kiwis are eager to support them. The challenge was clear: how do we make it easier for people to find and connect with these amazing charities?
The Solution
Chive’s mission is to make finding and supporting charities as easy as possible. We built a searchable directory of New Zealand charities, big and small, so people can discover and support causes that matter to them.
The Process
We used no-code tools to build Chive, which allowed us to create a fully functional platform quickly and affordably. No-code tools are perfect for projects like this because:
- They’re fast and cost-effective.
- Non-developers (like me) can make updates without writing code.
- Clients can easily manage and improve the platform on their own.
Here’s what we used to build Chive:
- Webflow for the website design.
- Airtable for managing the database of charities.
- Zapier for automating workflows.
- Memberstack for user accounts.
- Additional tools like Parabola, Integromat, and Mailerlite to handle extra features like email campaigns and data updates.
The entire project took about 8 weeks from start to finish. I also brought in Nikolai to help with the design and build, and the result turned out awesome!
The Outcome
Chive now makes it simple for Kiwis to find charities they love. Whether someone wants to support youth programs, environmental initiatives, or social justice causes, they can find what they’re looking for on Chive. Some of my personal favourites on the platform are:
- Zeal
- Mixit
- Just Speak
Why No-Code?
Now that the first version of Chive is live, Alice and Stephen can continue improving it on their own. They can add new features, update content, or respond to user feedback—all without needing me or a developer. That’s the power of no-code.
