How to make your event stand out in a saturated festival market

Project Thumbail for How to make your event stand out in a saturated festival market - Shelley Watson

Having a client who gives you the creative freedom to explore your ideas, combined with knowing your target audience is a powerful combination. It is important to be able to push boundaries while playing to your strengths.

The design

Diving deep into the AquariAUM theme took us to beautiful depths, creating an underwater fantasy world full of neon lit fantastical creatures of all sizes, inspired by real ones found in the depths of the ocean floor. Because surely an AquariAUM would be a psychedelic aquarium of the deep sea, where strange and colourful creatures with luminescent qualities exist?

Achieving my vision of a very fluid look of transparent liquid lettering was an exciting prospect and Adobe Illustrator was the perfect tool for this. The words float over beautiful rich dark tones of blues, aquas, and purples, with plankton as the dot of the I and a small fish in the middle of the A. And glowing sea creatures frame the wording enticingly.

The brand was super adaptable for use across multiple platforms, with its own AUM sub-brand of bubbles and critters. It was in use for nine months to promote the event as well as in use at the event.

It was a successful campaign, standing apart from other festivals with its playful, clever branding.
