Hello there! I'm Tanya Piejus, a seasoned communications specialist with a knack for transforming complex jargon into simple, everyday language. With three decades of experience under my belt, I've honed my skills in editing, proofreading, writing, and photography, all while managing various communications projects.
My academic roots are in ecology, and I hold a bachelor's degree in the field, along with a master's in publishing from reputable British universities. I've also earned a certificate in PR and communications management from the Open Polytechnic of NZ and the New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Rumaki Reo Rua), Level 2. My diverse educational background, coupled with my passion for theatre, has equipped me with a unique perspective and a broad range of knowledge.
Currently, I'm dedicating four days a week to Barnardos Aotearoa, NZ's leading children's charity, as their communications manager. However, the environment and nature conservation are my true passions. I'm an active volunteer for the Green Party, leading their Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications Committee.
When I'm not working or volunteering, you'll find me immersed in the world of theatre. I've directed 17 plays, acted in numerous productions, and handled many backstage tasks, including publicity. I'm also the proud President of KAT Theatre in Wellington.
My areas of expertise include:
- Writing and editing for digital and print media
- Proofreading
- Media relations
- Photography and videography
I'm particularly on the lookout for small businesses or NGOs in the environmental, climate change, or nature conservation space who could benefit from my skills. If you're seeking a dedicated, experienced, and passionate communications professional, I'd love to hear from you!
