Taxi Booking App & Website - Budget Taxis

Project Thumbail for Taxi Booking App & Website - Budget Taxis - Sutharsan AB

THE PROJECT

Budget taxis have been in the business of providing taxi services in Auckland and Waiheke for over 20 years. In addition to regular taxis, they operate school runs, vans, and maxis, as well as special vans for people with disabilities. Taxi users can book online in advance and prepay rates on their website to avoid the surprise of not finding a taxi at the last minute.

THE CHALLENGES

We are always looking for challenging projects, and Budget Taxis was one of our first clients. We faced several integration challenges, which we successfully overcame.
Security
When we took over the taxi company's website, it had several malicious codes inserted and payments were being redirected to scammers. Security issues plagued the site with advertisements for other taxi services.
Software
Every time a taxi is booked online, the information has to be sent to the existing dispatching system for processing. It was necessary to fix several price and distance mismatches in the taxi booking system, which ran the backend of the website.
Budget and Timeline
With the company's limited budget and timeline, removing their website and rebuilding it from scratch was not an option.

THE SOLUTION

Firewall and Enhanced Site Security
Pulsebay's cybersecurity and devops experts built a strong firewall using AWS to prevent further phishing attacks and removed all malicious codes. Any suspicious logins or any type of new code insertion is being monitored.
Custom Integrations
In order to accurately price their prepaid rates, we discarded the existing problematic integrations and replaced them with a fresh custom-made plugin that uses Google maps, directions, and distance calculators.
Application
As part of our efforts to stay competitive, we assisted in developing an Android and Apple application that allows customers to book vans, maxis, cars, as well as accommodate special requests like child seats and wheelchair lifts.
