Brand and product design: Creating a new product start to finish designed to bring people together in real life
Introduction
Add One is a brand new product designed to bring people together in real life, fostering meaningful connections during this highly digital era. The concept centers around in-person events with a unique twist: each event has a clear theme, and the host invites guests who, in turn, can "add one" friend they think would match the vibe. This way, everyone knows at least one person and has the opportunity to meet friends of friends. By connecting people who are just one degree of separation apart, Add One creates a more natural and enjoyable social experience.
The Challenge
The client had a strong initial vision for Add One but needed help transforming the conceptual idea into a fully designed and functional product. My role was to bring this vision to life through thoughtful design, ensuring that the brand identity, user experience, and interface aligned with the product's purpose. I needed to balance creativity with usability, making sure that the platform was both visually appealing and intuitive for users.
The Approach
As the Lead Designer for Add One, I translated this conceptual idea into a tangible product.
- Wireframes: I created initial wireframes to ensure intuitive navigation from event creation to guest RSVP.
- Brand Identity: The brand was designed to evoke a sense of desirability and intrigue, centered around qualities such as connection, authenticity, groundedness, mystery, excitement, curiosity, and curation. The color palette, typography, and visual elements were carefully chosen to reflect these attributes.
- User-interface: I developed the UI to reflect the brand of the company as well as adding visual representation of Add One.
- Make and ship: I worked closely with the development team to ensure the final product was as the designs, intuitive functionally/animations, and collaborated with engineers to maximize both quality and time.
The Result
Add One was designed in record time due to the close collaboration between the client, the engineering team, and myself. The product is ready to be launched with the first hosts in Amsterdam shortly!
